Hi Everyone- I am Jack Farrington's youngest daughter and I live in Atlanta. Much to Dad's dismay, I don't own a single British car but hope to someday! The reason I write here is to say thank you to all of you for your kind and comforting words about my dad. After Googgling I came up with this website and just have loved seeing the tremendous support that he had in this "car world," which has always been a huge priority for him. Yes, he loved cars! As a kid we never knew what he was going to drive home with. I can't tell you the countless times we had to make a stop off the side of the road to allow him (sigh) to scour through a car junkyard for a prized part. My first car was a 1972 MGB that Dad helped me to buy. Unfortunately I needed something more reliable and sold it to buy a...ugh...new Honda Civic! Dad about fainted as he has never owned a new car in his entire life! When he was a young boy he wrote an essay called "How a Girl is Like a Car" which we still have. It goes on to say that you should always go for the "older models" because the younger models will drain your pocketbook. Not sure there's truth to that but it was a very funny essay!
I've taken up enough space on your site but I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you all. I miss my Dad so much and am sure you all do as well. Thanks for listening.

What a neat post! Thanks for writing. Most of us only "knew" your dad through this venue. Your words only confirm what many of us thought about him.

Cheers,

Oh, and if you decide to follow in Jack's footsteps, I'm sure many of the folks here would be only too happy to help you find the right car! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

To say that Jack was a valuable asset to us British car nuts would be an understatment. Rest assured that your Dad had tremendous impact to many many people all over the WORLD! He was always there for us when some problem would crop up with our little British cars!

On a personal note: Since your Dad was such an active and helpful member here, as the owner of BCF, I made it a point to drive over and visit him at his shop when I was in Huntsville on a business trip. Wow, what a neat guy! As it turned out, we had a lot in common. He mentioned his involvement with a certain program he worked on when he was active duty which had him stationed on an island in the Pacific ocean. Well, as a retired Air Force guy myself, I'm now a contractor and work on that same program (the name has changes, but its really the same program).

You are right that we all miss him, but surely not as much as you do. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family!

I got to know your Father several years ago. We traded parts back and forth. I enjoyed doing business with him and got to run into him socially as well. Fine person, he will be missed. Let me know if I can be of any help if you pursue a British car.

I've known Jack for years - we were both retired LTC's, him in the Air Defense Artillery & me in the Field Artillery - we traded parts & cars & occassionally over the years and helped one another with car problems we couldn't solve alone....he & I sat in his shop right before Thanksgiving & talked for an hour or so...then, I went out of country until Christmas & was shocked to here the news.

We'll all miss Jack!!
