Italian Tune Ups and Ms Triss

Been thinking about the Wisconsin trip lately. Ms Triss is back running and I am very hopeful that all has been cured. That being said, generally she is running better than she ever has. She has always had a bit if a whine in the rear end between 2500 and 3k rpms. It is pretty much gone now. The oil pressure is higher than its ever been (I know I'm using Lucas but even so, it held higher on the trip itself) In a good way it just seems looser.

All of which reminds me that these things are meant to be driven and that me running to a cruise night five minutes away is not drive enough. All of which means that I guess there are British Tune Ups as well as Italian Tune Ups.

I used to be happy with just that; A drive no longer than one I could walk home from if the car failed. Over the years as I've made it more and more reliable, I now find that if I tend to only drive it if I know I'll be going for at least half an hour. That's a minimum of twenty to thirty miles, if not closer to a good 75 or more. I like to get everything warmed up and see the oil pressure drop as the oil gets good and warm. Only after that do I know its ready to "GO".

Over the years I've found that the car seems happiest (do they really have feelings?) when the ambient temperature is around 60 to 65 degrees. Much cooler and it never seems to quite warm up all the way, and much hotter it doesn't want to idle very well after a long run.
