In dismantling my "free" TR3 engine, I got all but two of the head studs out. I finally said do or die, drove one of those self-gripping hex-headed caps on the top of the last ones, fitted a 1" socket on it with a 1/2" drive and a 4 foot long cheater bar. After a lot of groaning, the suckers broke aloose! Whew! What surprised me is those stud are coarse threaded down in the block. Tell me these studs (two different lengths) are available. I plan on taking the liners out as well and if all goes as planned, will get some Mahle 87mm ones. (apparently these are very difficult to get) Slow process, ton of gunk on this engine, especially in the area of the chain cover. From what I can tell, this baby has a lot of miles on it, was just parked and abandoned. Would be nice if I can end up with a really hot little engine/tranny. Hmmmm, how would that fit in my TR6?
