I believe that since it is a a English Car normally the pull would be on the right side. Obviously when they exported them they found it easier to reroute the cable and not worry about the consequences.
Nope! Mine is on the left too.
I just use the emergency release as my standard access under the bonnet...

I guess it could only mean that your steering wheel is on the wrong side :smile:

Oh yeah.... you definitely need a stop bolt so the lever arm doesn't rotate past the open position . Drill and tap a small bolt with a small spacer and do as Steve suggests by installing a lock nut on the reverse to keep.

I never had to resort to it - but a broom stick from below has enabled some to flip the catch.

Others use a bent metal rod inserted through one of the firewall grommets - but remember you are very near the hot post of the battery. Somewhere on the web or in the archives was a pic of the shape of the rod that worked the magic.
