I came to this forum a few years ago and recently found the site again. Forgot my old password and created a new account. I am excited about the level of interaction that I have already had with you experienced chaps giving me the information that I need. And very quickly I might add.
I live in Indiana and this is a car that is 30 years in the making. My father has built a countless number of cars and growing up I have always wanted to do the same. He bought this car just before I was born an had hoped that I acquired the passion for cars that he once had. Well,,, I have. I started this car when I was a freshman in high school and had no idea what I was doing. Moving on to all of the time consuming things that I NEEDED to do in high school the sprite was put aside. I restored a 52 Chevy and 2 years after it was finished traded it for couple of MGs. I made one out of the two and was hooked on British cars. I started on the sprite again about 6 years ago, only to be put in the back of the garage as other cars came into my possession as "higher priorities." I was also in college at the time and had less money and time than I do now.
Now I am out of school, a teacher, and I promised this little car the time and patience a little over a year ago. (I have less time and about the same amount of money.
) I also promised myself and the car that this will be the only one until it is finished. (A monogamous relationship I guess.) So, anyhow, here I am and here it is. Basically it was started in Sept. 05. It hit the ground today for the first time in 7 years. Thanks to everyone that has answered questions so far and many more to come. Enjoy the pics.
P.S. click on the attached pics before scrolling down to see the progress of the car. Hmm... I wish I had pictures of what she looked like before I sand blasted her.
