Interior door material

That's possible, but the screws that hold the seat to the surround would still keep things from moving. I would guess the second wheel arch bolt was deleted because it was redundant. If I remember, I'll look at that when I'm at the next Healey gathering. Is it possible someone left an object in your seat when it was folded up and dented those pieces?

After thinking about this, the wheel arch bolts don't really matter since the wood on the side of the seat back would keep things from flexing.

I don't think the bulge is from damage. It goes nicely under the edge of the mating upholstered wood. I sent some pictures to somebody a while ago. Perhaps they will post them. It was a huge 7 Meg file.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the photos, I'll post one here. I agree with you in that it doesn't look like damage, but intentional. Don't know why mine was different.

Back to the door board material. All I can find is Mason Board at 1/8 inch. It is a fiber board used in furniture backing. All the stuff I've found seems too flexible. If I use a spray on water base polyurethane and vinyl will that be good enough? I've got too many Healey projects going on at one time to search for the real good stuff.

Did you try "professional" lumber supply houses? The Lowes & Home Depots usually don't have the 1/8" Birch. The Masonite dies not "staple" very well.

My wife made & upholstered a friends Jag MK10, she got the new backing from an upholstery supply in Tacoma(Best Foam&Fabric Outlet Upholstery Supplies- 253-4735500)8323 S Park Ave Tacoma Wa. Same as oem, it worked great. PS I have no financial interest, just trying to help. Genos2

I believe the curve was intentional too. I found a place that appears to sell only the pieces that you need for this area. This is a difficult piece to make without excellent carpemtry skills.

looks as if a p.o. was making runs into mexico.

Dad did some silly things like put the clutch disk on backwards, but I'm sure he never messed with the rear seat.
