Interior color - Help me decide

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to decide what color that I want to install in the 6. I've narrowed the suppliers down to Prestige and John Skinner, but I can't for the life of me decide if I want "New Tan" which is a dark tan, or "Light Tan", which is a biscuit color. My personal preference is "Light Tan", so I'm not sure why I'm even hesitating. I suppose that most people that I've asked for opinions like the "New Tan" better AND that's what the car came with originally. But, again, I'm not sure why originally bothers me because the car came from the factory with Sienna (Not my cup of tea) and was painted Pimento somewhere down the line.

At any rate, I would like anyone's opinion on this.

Thanks for the help!

Get what you like.

If that doesn't work, then send me a pic of what you decide. I think mine is pimento (or a newer clone) and I need a new interior. In the worst way...

If I were you though I'd get Light Tan though. I like the way it looks. I think I'd stick with a black top though, just based on my preferences.

One other thing, did you try Heritage in Ontario? My mechanic says they made the nicest interiors he's ever seen. NFI and I never saw one, but I am in the market.

Listen, anything is better than the original TR2 possibility of Olive Yellow with Blackberry interior trim...

...so any of the options you mentioned will look absolutely wonderful. Go with your gut, and you won't go wrong!

My TR was originally BRG with black leather interior and I'm replacing it with the Light Tan interior and repainting it a Sapphire Blue Pearl with White Pearl stripes (eventually), so I'll vote for the Light Tan as well - all I have to do now is figure out which Miata tan will match it to recover the seats /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ask your suppliers for a small sample of the colours you are thinking of. Then when you order it, send back half of that small sample to be sure you get the one you want. When I did my TR3A from 1987 to 1990, the red vinyl was no longer available in the correct shade. The alternatives were BMW red, VW red, MG red plus burgundy red and also maroon. None were right so I had it done in leather. They can do leather in any colour you desire. See attachment above.

Excellent idea! Thanks Don! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Had a Biscuit/Lt Tan interior in my Fiat. Looked great but it also had Biscuit carpet. What *were* they thinking? Hopefully you'll get the carpet in something dark like wheel-grease black or Castrol Brown.

Oops, too late. I've already bought the TRF Magic Carpet kit in their lightest tan. I must admit I am very impressed with the workmanship, right down to the half-moon pieces sewn in on the center hump section.

I think I'll buy some of those black plush floor mats to go over the carpet ....

Alana,

I called the guys at Heritage yesterday... I was very impressed! They're sending me some samples to look at. Their kits are a bit more expensive, but they also include more... I've been looking at the leather option across the board, they offer Connolly leather WOOHOO!!!

Looks like biscuit it is.

Shannon,
Let us know what you think of the heritage product, I've never seen their samples. Or PM me with details and cost quotes, thanks.

Shannon,

I decided to go with Lt Tan on my restoration and am very happy with the color choice. It was a correct color for an early 70, which mine is. I got the whole interior including the wool carpets from TRF. Picture attached. Good luck!

I used to have a web address for a company that showed some great interiors for TR6's on their website. Can't find that address.
It may have been this Heritage that you mention. Do you have a web address for them? I'm a few months away from needing an interior...
