MGB Installing steel dash into early 70's MGB

Other than the steering column cowl, what other fit-up problems can I expect when using a '67 steel dash in a 73-74 MGB?

Thanks Tony. Hmmm... daunting.
Wiring - no problem. I intend to rewire everything anyway with custom wiring.
The console is history. I never liked it anyway.

The rest sounds like the tough part....
Underdash support bar... hmmm I might can extend the windshield cowl to move the dash out a bit. I've never liked the limited space behind the dash. Since I'll be moving the dash out, the support bar can move out with it.

Ugh - it's going to be a full fabrication rework. I guess I better save this idea for the "dream" car.

Edit - just noticed your URL for your article. I knew I had seen that somewhere.
Looks like you modified your 70's car to fit the early dash. I was sort of thinking of going the other way -> modifying the steel dash to fit the 70's car. Got any thoughts on that?

David - never thought of it because of the curve of the '70's windshield cowl...you'd have to 'bend' the dash.

When you coming this way again?

I've got a friend here that wants to convert a RB to a CB car and a steel dash. I've got a 67 donor I am cutting up for him. I hope he is up for the challenge.

I know over in England when they import a padded dash car from the States and convert it to RHD, they weld in a panel on the dash top (or a complete new shroud panel part # HZA480) to get the dash back aft and away from the windshield where it's supposed to be. Not sure if someone over there manufactures a small panel to do that?? They may just fabricate a piece or use the full shroud.

FYI.

I'd like to do this modification also, but it is very daunting. Perhaps a winter project some year down the road. Someone sold a complete dash all switches, hardware, steering column, gauges etc.

No telling if the gauges etc were in good working order or condition of chrome bits etc so I took a pass.

Maybe I should just focus on my existing project and at least try to get the car back on the road before this summer is over
