idle but no throttle

Needle is fixed in dampner, should not move other than when dampner moves.

Your carbs have a spring biased needle. Sounds normal.

ok well back to the fuel delivery, is the fuel into the bowl under any pressure or just kinda dribbles in to keep the bowls full. There is a new filter nad the flow is similar in front of the filter as it is after the filter. Other than this question, I am left to hope it is cloged jets or float bowl valves....

No dribble, squrt.

Yup. Fuel delivery should be in "spurts" as the pump pulses. Flow rate is documented "someplace" here... If it "dribbles" you've a delivery prob.

Ok I cleaned the jets, made sure the wires were at 1342, made surefuel pump was pumping. I started the car. It runs at 1500 with full throttle, and no choke, let off the throttle and it dies. The plugs after it runs and black. What the heck is wrong here.// As I said before the carbs seem to be functioning as they should, and the butterflies open and close freely. I pulled the valve cover and all valves are opening and closing freely. No vacuum leaks either. I somehow do not think itis valves as the car was running before. Can the ditributor go in wrong, can the timing be that far, off I am guessing now..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

Did you set the static timing?
