Easy on the TR7 slams. A 7 will blow the doors off a B. A 79-82 TR7 or 8 is one if not the most reliable cars BL ever made. (will not talk about early 7's) Also BL actually made money after they stopped making MG's. (To little to late)
 
hehehehhee - bad managment... if they'd continued the R&D on the MGB, it would still be the worlds best sold/loved LBC.
 
You are correct; the MGB needed a re-design mid 70's. Have you seen the MG EX-E? It was a prototype "85" the designer was Harris Mann (Ford Escort, TR7, Subaru Impreza, Acura NSX?). I would have to do some research but it has always been my understanding that the TR7 convertible was the best selling BL car of all times. (per model year)

I like the EX-E, nut it looks like a cross between a Corvette front end (maybe pontiac fiero), the midsection of the Ford Probe concept car, and the rear end of a Honda NSX.
