Ideas for organizing hardware when plating

Hey guys, I’m looking for some ideas to help keep hardware organized for plating. I currently have my TD just about completely disassembled (the project started with the intention of fixing a sticking right front brake...don’t ask), and should hopefully have the frame repainted by the end of this weekend. Soon I will need to get an entire car’s worth of nuts, bolts, and various fittings zinc plated. Right now they are all carefully organized and labeled in sandwich bags, but I know at the platers they will all get thrown into one large batch.

What tricks and ideas have others used to help organize the parts during or after plating? I’ve thought about taking photos of the contents of each separate bag next to its label, but any other ideas from those who have been down this road?

I think you want silver cad plating on your hardware?
My trimmer uses and old library card file. It has many drawers and you can label the front of each one.

My plating service was close enough to go in person and they plated my baggies of hardware in separate batches. Worth a try to ask. Tom

Your lucky. I have always been charged by the pound at any plater. Don’t do the bag thing, all goes into a bucket and comes back nice and pretty.

You're on the right track with taking pictures and labeling . The cleaner your hardware is , the better it will look and last after plating !

Too true. Dip in parts cleaner and blast with glass in your cabinet blaster.

One of the platers I used tied all the like parts together using solid copper wire.

BTW, don't need to ask. Been there, done that.
