OK, so here's me and my Mom in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1956.

This must have been my "Captain Kangaroo Look" :friendly_wink:

Anyway, what car is that in the left background?

Looks like a British Ford to me, either Consul or Zephyr, early 1950's...
 
It's either a Ford Consul or Ford Zephyr.

They are very similar cars....in fact both part of the Zephyr line of cars built by Ford from 1951 to 1956.

The Consul had a four cylinder while the Zephyr had a six. Both engines were new-designed OHV models. And these cars were one of the first cars with unibody frames and MacPherson strut suspension, so the overall design was very modern for the time.
