I don't usually do double posts - I posted this on the "other" forum also - 'cause it seems a little weird to me. But I'm a bit down right now.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I've had my B in the shop for over 3 weeks now, trying to get a new windshield installed.
LOOOONNNNNGGGGG story, but the initial problem turns out to be the "restoration" the DPO did to the car before I got it. Seems the entire windscreen frame was held in place by one (1!) non-stock bolt. Not only non-stock, but too long. It actually went through the cladding and sat against the glass. This was the cause of the initial break.
Second problem: Finding a local supplier for the glass. The shop tried 3 different screens, including - according to the mechanic - one of the PPG screens. None fit, although the PPG was "close".
The solution: The shop has finally relented and is allowing me (read: Tony The Autoist Barnhill /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif ) to provide glass that fits.
It's going to be in the high 70's with clear skies this weekend. It's going to be low 60's and raining next weekend. Sigh.
