From the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?
This fits in the category of "respect". It is not in my taste, but I respect the ability and creativity of the builder. (Some hot rods fall into the same category - not beautiful to my eyes, but a lot of skill, talent and imagination went into putting it together.)
Four wheel steering? Cool.

Of course I respect the ability it to to make a near-perfect replica of a movie car and did not intend to imply otherwise. It is similar to the skill it takes to makes cars like the Munster car, or the batmobile, etc. That said, it still fits the Webster definition of garish:
Garish adj β: Flashy, glaring, showy, gaudy.
