I will say, ugliness comes in many forms, this is a good representation. Art, well maybe so, but for who? :flush: PJ

This fits in the category of "respect". It is not in my taste, but I respect the ability and creativity of the builder. (Some hot rods fall into the same category - not beautiful to my eyes, but a lot of skill, talent and imagination went into putting it together.)

Four wheel steering? Cool.

I agree - not exactly my taste though I do think it is a better than most steampunk effort also - this on the other hand was for sale here in the Toronto area for some time - the ad shows it sold though I can't imagine to whom.

Of course I respect the ability it to make a near-perfect replica of a movie car and did not intend to imply otherwise. It is similar to the skill it takes to makes cars like the Munster car, or the batmobile, etc. That said, it still fits the Webster definition of garish:

Garish adj : Flashy, glaring, showy, gaudy.

I wholeheartedly agree with the assessment of "garish". I choose poor words in my post - sorry for that!

OK, so I'm outnumbered, but saying that, I still think it's one of the ugliest representations of an automobile I've ever seen. PJ

Yes, it is ugly, but it took a lot of skill and patience and craftsmanship to make it that ugly. (Which I suspect was the intention of the movie makers - to make a car that was over-the-top garish and outlandish.)

I suspect the movie makers were trying to make a good movie too...

One would hope. Unfortunately I don't think they succeeded. I own the movie. Not one of Sean Connery's best. Only rated 5.8/10 on IMDB and not very good on rotton tomatoes either.

I have the movie also, got it when it came out. I think we watched it once, maybe twice. Sell it for a dollar, you pay shipping! :highly_amused: PJ
