I got to thinking the other day

Since my Spit 1500 is old enough to not require emissions in GA anymore, I've been kicking around the idea of returning the engine to UK spec. (especially the compression) What all am I looking at? So far I think I'm looking at Flat pistons, new connecting rods, head deck, new pushrods. Anything that I'm missing?

Of course if I follow through with this, I might as well do a complete overhaul of the engine.

ETA: I forgot to add dual s/u carbs and a new intake manifold.

A 45D4 (points) distributor and I believe the UK engines had dual valve springs. I've heard that they had a hotter cam but have never seen it verified by any specs.

Ah, that is the path that you're on so far. Please include a valve job, with new valves, springs and seats, new cam & cam bearings, polish crank, lighten flywheel, o/haul distributor, rebuild damper, ya-da, ya-da....

true, however I want to get a list of thing I need beforehand, rather than piecemeal my way through it. I think that's why I lost interest in my old s-10.

Delta,

That situation is usually where and when my troubles begin.
