After many months of work... Lots of $.. I finally took it for a test run on New Years Day! Around the block and neigherhood several times. It ran great, steered like a dream and is not the car I started with. Here's the total:

87.5mm, cam is 280, TR4A head and manifold, port and polished, oversize valves, roller rockers, headers, HS6s carbs by Gary Martin, alternator, aluminum radiator, electric fan with 185 sensor on the bottom, relocated turn signals and horn, toyota five speed, rack and pinion steering... My dream TR3A!

Here are the pictures:

Boy did I have to work through some problems!

I relocated the brake light switch as it was to close to the headers. I plugged the pressure switch and made a bracket for a manual switch for the brakes... works great!

I took the heater out and placed the wiper switch where the heater switch was and mounted the horn button next to it with a 50 amp relay. I put a 30 amp relay on the brake lights as I'm going to put bigger bulbs in them.

I placed a simple SPDT 20 amp switch where the wiper switch was at for directonal signals and it looks like it was made for the panel..

I have an appointment with a muffler shop this Thurs to finish the exhaust and the hood (bonnet) is out for repainting. I ordered a top from prestige toady and am ready to order wheels and tires...

I hope to make a local TR Club meeting this Sat that is close to home...

Capt. Roy, looks and sounds like my dream TR3A, too! Best of luck! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Capt Roy, looks great! Can't wait to see a pic of it and YOU behind the wheel, grinning.

A little pointer, if you don't mind. That sound deadener on your floorboard has foil on one side. It looks to me like you have the foil side toward the painted floorboard. If indeed you do this, big mistake. The foil will strip the paint right off your beautiful floor. The foil side needs to be away from the paint. It might be possible for you to simply switch the two, right and left, and still fit.

Very nice Captain! Looks like you'll be ready for the VTR Regional up in Conroe this fall!

Randy

Capt. R.- Very nice ! How much do you want for it??

Well done! Looks ~just like~ a TR3!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

When you look at it in a year, you'll wonder HOW you ever DID all that. At least that's the way it works with my projects.

Really looks great Tell us more as you get a chance to drive it in assembled form!

I like the tan interior with the red-- what's the tan color name and source?

Did you make the plug wires? I, too, have a Mallory dizzy and have been unable to find premade wires that fit like yours. Great!

Looks Great, and sounds like a great little pep up for him.

Patrick

That engine bay looks so good it seems a shame to re-fit the bonnet.
Congrats.
