I copied Steve S

9'4" is high enough for nearly any type of lift. You just can't get the car above the "smash my forehead on the ramp" level.

My wife would love those type of doors but my current door is 17' wide without a center facade wall.

That would make a pretty big door, but it isn't impossible. Our opening is 16-feet wide which makes each door 8-feet. That means the 8-feet in front of the garage becomes useless, and since our driveway is L-shaped that isn't an option. It would also block the main walkway to the front door of the house when open, which also isn't an option. So we went with a high lift roll-up, following the roof angle.

Steve,

That looks cleaner (& probably is)than
many of the motel room I've stayed in.
You don't want to see my garage - boxes of
parts for British cars everywhere (+ some Japanese).

That photo was during construction so it isn't that clean any more. I just came in from cleaning at least a quart of oil with leaves and crap in it from the floor.

I just added these to my doors - keeps everything out including the neighbor's cat!

I've thought about screens but I really want something that rolls itself up. The only thing I've found so far are the rather large devices that sit in front of the door up top, and I don't like the way they look.
