Peter, I know there are a few minor differences in the HS2's between the Spit and the Sprite, but they're easy to adapt. Thae main difference is the float chamber grommet to obtain the proper float geometry.
As to using them on a 1500, I always thought they were a tad small, but would probably be OK for a street engine. If I was going to hot up a 1500 in the least, the dual HS4's would be the way to go.
