I think what happened to the British car industry in the 70s is pretty telling of what happens anytime the government gets too involved in the private sector.

I saw them mentioned in another thread, but didn't see any in depth discussion. I'd love to see a solid documentary cover the 101 disaster, I never even heard of it until 2015 when Iron Maiden released their song about it.
