They were also deaf by the age of fifty and didn't always have all of their digits.OSHA, we don't need to stinkin' OSHA (or whatever the UK equivalent is). Notice lots of cutting and grinding and metal shavings and no eye protection, presumably lots of noise too.

Digits, we don’t need no stinking digits! They were also deaf by the age of fifty and didn't always have all of their digits.
If you want to hear the real sounds of the Spridget assembly line, listen to the first ten minutes of this one:They were also deaf by the age of fifty and didn't always have all of their digits.
I think what happened to the British car industry in the 70s is pretty telling of what happens anytime the government gets too involved in the private sector.Deafening for sure, but we don't know how many of those employees were wearing ear plugs. Also, in the broad scheme of things, the "gather together and fight the corrupt system, comrades" spiel in the narrative is pretty interesting, considering the decline of British motor industry that was about to happen, due to "government assistance".
"We pretend to work; they pretend to pay us."
and life expectancy for a man was about 66 yearsThey were also deaf by the age of fifty and didn't always have all of their digits.
The UK equivalent is the Ministry of Health and Safety.OSHA, we don't need to stinkin' OSHA (or whatever the UK equivalent is). Notice lots of cutting and grinding and metal shavings and no eye protection, presumably lots of noise too.
