How old are Austin Healey owners?

I'm 36, got into Healeys when my dad belonged to AH club of Oregon in the early 80's and have loved them ever since. Still driving my first Healey- which I bought and restored at the age of 17. Now also own a 100-4 and another 100-6 project.

Son of a gun, I thought I responded to this a long time ago. I'm 55. But I got the bug when I was 17. Bought my 100, 7 years ago (in boxes). Put it on the road this year. Never driven a big Healey other than mine.

I'm 43. Was 11 and 13 when Dad bought the two 67's he just gave me. I could actually sit in the back seat then!

saw my first Healey on a car lot when I was 16. Bought my 67 in 1971, and I still have it and every single voltage regulator and fuel pump that I changed on it...priceless

I bought my BN6 when I was 24, in 1978.

I'm guessing that we're about the same age /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My family bought two successive 3000's in 1972 and 1973, I was 15 in '73. The cars never left my dreaming and scheming, along through high school and college, I could only come up with enough money for MGB's and a bugeye Sprite, three total. Then the kids came and that's where all the money went!

About two years ago, at age 47, I found a completely original BJ8 with 55,000 miles. I decided not to let it get away.

You can count the price of the car, the detailing, the new parts, but the grin I'm wearing when I work on, and drive, the car...is priceless. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

Fortunately, my wife understands, and better yet, I'm infecting a whole bunch of kids with the bug.

Since we have nine, almost ten, kids (that's for another forum /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif) we're gonna need more Healey's 'cause most of them wants one.

Now Dave, don't start hording. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif Other people want Healeys too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Got my 1st BN1 in 1960 and destroyed it in college age 17), got my 2nd BN1 in 1972, sold it in 1975 and got my last BN1 in 2004 off E-Bay. I will turn 65 this month and still enjoy it more than anything I have driven.

Have had LBC's since 1974, own at least one of each marque. Presently elbow deep in restoring 67 BJ8 that was a Golden Metallic Beige color.

Hate to admitt the age, 57 1/2. Bought my first Healey when I was 23 while station at New London, Conn. Sub Base. Owned it about 1/2 day. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Had to turn it back over to P.O. because my insurance company wouldn't cover me. When i got off active duty, bought an MGA. That's what my wife and I got married in. My second Healey is the one I have now. Bought it about 6 years ago. My wife never got excited about the Vette, but when I literally drug the Healey home, sitting all forlorn on a trailer in front of the house, she came out the front door and exclaimed, 'OOh I like that car'. I knew I finally did something right.

50. Just got my BJ8 a month or so ago, not too far from that milestone b-day.

Another impression reading this thread is how long some have held their cars; obviously the kind of thing you see with a classic car. I expect to hold onto mine ~40 years.

65 and just started my original 64 healey for the first time in 47 years.

That doesn't add up, unless your '64 was three (3) years premature /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
