How old are Austin Healey owners?

Look at what is happening to many of the prewar collections and you can see something as to what "could" happen to our cars.

Of my dad's stuff. His Model T's have been at best holding if not slightly declining in value over the past few years. They have the luxury of big, big club support and shear number of cars that are still around.

The only people who are interested in cars like his 1946 Ford are street rodders.

My hope is that the fact Healeys are sportscars with classic, distinctive design will help keep interest up.

I'm planning on being around at least another 40 years, so there will be people to keep the torch lit.

2. Who is going to continue on with our beloved toys we we can't get into them anymore?

Good question. My own daughters, sons in law, & grandchildren do not have the slightest interest in old cars or anything else old. I would rather "give" it to someone who is really interested than let my kids have it, if & when that time comes. I'm quite certain that one of them would trade it for a new truck & the other one would trade it for a horse. The grandkids would destroy it in a short time. No answers here. I hope others have a better outlook.

I hope that we keep seeing younger ages as I may be the only person posting in this forum in 2075! (By then though, we'll probably just have to think of a question and our internal computer systems will answer it automatically using the database from throughout the years.)

I wonder what the chances are of me being the only member here that was born in the 80's!? (1980s that is) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

46 and still sucking air! Now if I could just get my 100 to start doing that....

Now we are up to 51 data points

Average = 51.6
Median = 52.0
Standard Deviation = 10.5

62 Caretaker/owner of a 1956 BN2 that my late father purchased in 1956. 57,000 mile original car. Always garaged and covered, driven on sunny California days.

Well Sparton0 199, the disribution is just about where it was 20 years ago when sampled by British Car Magazine, so there has not been a great influx of younger people.---Keoke

Nope it is split in the middle at ~ 50 -to -54. Needs Integrating. Plus those folks way outside don't even count---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

57. First 62 BT7 purchased in 1970,sold in 1972. Second 62 BT7 purchased in 2002 and is a keeper ( because I can't wait another 30 years to buy a third one)

47 going on 67. 1961 BT7 in 2007. At least I can drive it as I have way to much junk thats going to take another 100 years to finish.

If we could get Keoke to fess up, the average age would jump a few years. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

52

I'm going to help Lou keep the average up. Bob C 72 and counting.

Naw Shorn, there be too many aberrations in the data already for one number to have any effect. Plus, I can not change the number system if interchanging the numerical digits yields the same number what chu expect me to do!---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

70 - I bought my BT7 new in 1960, had it stored for 30 years, now doing a frame off restoration which I hope to have finished before my kids take my drivers licence away.

72. My Dad and I bought my Healey together in 1973. He willed his half to me and now my son is after me to will the car to him (he knows I won't turn loose of it while I'm alive).
