How did you discover BCF?

[ QUOTE ]
What has always puzzeled me is how some of the very first members found their way here even before Google had picked my up or I was on any other web sites.

Maybe it was the LUCAS smoke signals....

Maybe they followed a trail of LBC parts left behind like bread crumbs....

Hay, the British car magazine did get turned into classic motorsports, but its not all about British cars anymore. Which takes most of the fun of it away for me.

I was active on a Triumph TR7 site when I first got the 'Beaut. It gave me a lot of starting information until this fellow, won't call him a man, signed up and put the site into turmoil. Very Very rude individual, constantly causing arguments, which eventualy led to everyone except him leaving the forum. He was a Snap-on-tool distributor from what I remember. Somone on that site recommended here and I have been here since, even somtimes adding relivant information to the topic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This guy wasn't by any chance also into Jeeps was he?

Hey, Basil, I think I remember him from here, don't I? Briefly, I might add.

If its who I think it is, then yes, probably. But he didn't last long

I discovered BCF through Yahoo! (in late 01).
I had already been active on the Aeronca Aviators site since '97, but I was getting tired of the endless e-mails and the political nonsense (despite the moderators best efforts).
I've stuck with BCF because it has stayed focused on *cars* and keeps all the other nonsense to a minimum.
I remember that annoying Jeep-guy too. Good riddance!

I remeber that Jeep guy. He was a real jerk. Didn't he also try joining up again with a different name after he ot banned?

Yep he did, at least once maybe twice under different names, but it didn't take long for me to catch on who he really was.

Basil

Come on folks, surely there are more of you who remember how you found the BFC?!

Basil

A long time ago it was....think I was looking online for bugeyes for sale, found BCF. Not a bad catch.

Looks like you've been a member form just over 3 years and joind just around the time we hit our first 1000 members (you're 1015).

Basil

PS: Did I ever ask you if you'd heard of the Mendips band?

I think one of our customers refered us, or at least pointed us in your general direction. I remember he said that we would be impressed at how friendly and well run the site was, and he was right!

Bas, since you mentioned that Carl is member 1015. I have a question, I used to be member 665, and now I'm member 654. Is that just because of people who have been deleted from the forum over the years?

That's a good question and to be honest, I don't know the answer. But your guess is probably as good as mine.

Basil

It's funny how our memory works. I really didn't remember until this morning.

I had started my own web site with a few car pictures and every few months I looked at the stats regarding usage and so on. I discovered lots of people linking to the site from britishcarforum, which I'd never heard of. One of the members had mentioned my site in a post.

Sounded interesting, I checked it out & joined. It's currently the only car related site I look at regularly.
