TR6 How about a suggestion for TR6 tires.....

Are these "new" redlines you refer to still a tubed tire? The apparent difficulty in getting these tires repaired is my major concern at this point. THX

Beware the old Red Lines.
I replaced the 15+ years old Red Lines with
205/70Rs. The attached photo shows the old tires
under full car weight.

Only about 1" width of rubber actually meets the road.
If you're running on old Red Lines, check their profiles.

That would account for the superb rain handling and hard cornering characteristics exhibited by the good ole redlines.

Very interesting.....

An club member wrapped his triple-SU TR6 around a guard rail doing 90 because his 25-year-old redlines blew (two of them). They might impress the VTR but they ain't safe at speed. You don't know how bad they can be till you improve your suspension and put on some modern tires and wonder why you never changed before this. A lot of guys just keep the original steel wheels with some redlines stacked in the garage and only bring them out for concours judging.

I assume that by "might impress the VTR" you mean for Concours judging. I don't believe that VTR or any other marque club encourages high-speed driving on 25-year-old tires of any brand, style or construction!

Meanwhile, no question that tire technology has come a long ways in the nearly 40 years since any Michelin radial was THE tire. But I'll wager that BRAND-NEW Michelin redlines aren't the worst possible choice, either.

I have BF Goodrich, "Traction T/A'S" 205/70-15 mounted on 15X6" Superlites. I am very happy. Got the tires from Tire Rack. Quick delivery and the price was right.
