Bealieu, the engine in mine started out as a 1200 from a 124 sedan, and was bored to 1300. I didn't build it, so am sketchy on the details. The rotation has been reversed to allow it to run through the stock 850 gearbox.

ummm never heard of that one , so now it runs the "normal" direction like all other cars
(I thought stock 850s ran the "normal" direction)

ohh well more confusion....

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

Well, as far as I can figure, the 124 was front engine, and the 850 was rear engine, so it would make sense to have different rotational directions.
However, this is my first foray into Fiats, so I may be talking out of my hat!

Had an 850. Never again. Glad you're having better luck. It was a neat little car...

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

Ben, this thing is a Track Day only car. It's amazingly quick, with the 1300 in it, but, it's still an 850, if you get my drift.
A lot of fun, but I wouldn't want my sister to marry one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some day I will get to my Fiat 600 Abarth Sedan just after I finish the Gt750 Abarth. Check it out at www.abarth.ca

A "Double Bubble!" You lucky dog, Mark.
Now, if I can only find the reverse rotation setup for a 1200........

Oooooooooh.... I like the dubble bubble. <drooooooooooool>

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

Buy the 850 car you can use the front spindles and disc brakes on the 600. The 850 will go into the 600 with no cutting of sheet metal.

Cheers

Hi....I thought the 850 motor turned the wrong way for a 600 transmission ?

is there an easy way to put the 850 transmission in also ?

thanks

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

You need to find a Fiat 127 cam there is no fuel pump lobe so electric pump is mandatory. You need to contact people like. Bayless www.baylessfiat.com or PBS www.pbseng.com or these guy are in CA
Fiat Parts www.fiatplus.com

They will help you out big time.

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

ummm OK , a Fiat 127 cam will make the 850 motor run backwards, good to know.....

This is all "greek" to me , but I know that many parts interchange between motors ,

thanks for the info.....

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

Just what in the heck are you building anyways?

Re: Hotrodding a Fiat 600 with Fiat 850 motor/ tra

Reversing motor rotation sometimes is more than a backwards cam.

rear main seal, timing cover seal, water pump impeller, possibly oil pump rotation, and starter rotation might be affected.

Do some home work first.....contact the names in previous posts above.
