TR6 High temp paint required for TR6 valve cover?

The valve cover gasket was leaknig, and one thnig led to another and now I have a sandblasted valve cover neednig paint.

Do I need a high temp paint for this?

Have it ceramic coated. It's just money. :laugh:
 
Tom, Someone told me if you want Hi Temp but don't like the color choice just paint it with regular and use a Hi Temp clear on top.

Not if you chrome plate it.

Buy high temp red paint for the engine.

Finally an answer that makes sense!!

If your valve cover gets hot enough to blister regular paint, you've got bigger problems then losing some paint on the valve cover!

I used a moss paint on an MG and covered that with a high temp enamel only to protect the paint from solvents etc. If you like shine it looks good.
 
My whole engine is painted with regular Rustoleum (except the header, I painted that with Rustoleum BBQ Black) It's held up great so far. If you think about all the rubber and plastic in contact with it that stuff would burn up at temps high enough to cause paint to break down.

A nice basic blue/silver combo with subtle applications of RED in the most appropriate locations.

Rather well thought out and tastefully executed, I might add.
