Hello everybody, I've been out of the British car scene for a little while now but I'm making a return! I used to hag 2- '76 Spitfires, one overdrive car, until the housing crash of 2008, when I lost my house to a bank I never knew, and my cars as well. I now have a 1980 Spitfire, overdrive car, which is in pretty good shape, and her miden voyage in my posession was a drive from Houston TX to St. Petersburg FL, and she operated flawlessly! I plan on making her look older, with the chrome bumpers, and upgrading the brakes and such, with wheel upgrades too and driving her EVERYWHERE! I love these little cars!

welsome - glad you are back in the hobby!

Hello GLHS 117

Welcome to the forum.

Great first drive with a new to you car.

You will find the Triumph section is very active so you are sure to get plenty of tips and advice for your Spitfire.

Welcome!

Quite the intrepid "first drive"!!

Welcome from Boston …… question ; at what RPM’s are you running @ 70 mph in overdrive ? I’ve got a 75’ Midget 1500 without overdrive , installed a 3.5 differentials @ $1500.00 (Bastuck Germany) now I’m running 70 mph @ 3700 rpm’s in the break down lane safely .
im comfortable traveling at 66 mph @ 3500 rpm’s ……don’t want / need to push it too much . What say you ?
On anudder note ; I’ve found the front disc break pads are crap with the exception of these “Yellow” EBC pads , just a thought . 100% better .
