Friend of mine rented a big Lancia in Europe last month...I took it for a drive one day....gotta say,, it wasn't anything to write home about when comparing it to my memories of my old HPE...&, yes, I'm saying that in a bad way! The new Lancia was very uncomfortable - dash layout was beautiful but it just didn't "feel" right....don't think I'd spend the cash if it were imported to the US!

All the ALFAs and Lancias that I can afford are the ones I don't want (the ones *I* like all have wire wheels).

I wish we could get the new diesel-powered 1300cc, FIAT 500 in the US.
*That* is a modern l'Auto Italia I'd like.

To take this a little further, has anyone seen these? I have only seen this as this toy! Seems to me, at the right price, this could become the "modern spridget". Any thoughts on that! (Esp. if you have seen that hot-rod Smart with the Hyabasa (Sp??) engine in another thread!!!)

Not only did I see regular Smart cars on the road in Germany, I saw Smart convertibles & 1 Smart 4-door! I think I'd be scared to death to put one of those things on the autobahn!
