Hershey Vintage Hillclimb ... anyone going? I am hoping to attend. In case anyone doesn't know, it's an event held in southern central PA, May 6-7 this year. I plan on spectating/photographing, as the car isn't really properly prepared, safety-wise.

I'm not quite ready to die yet.....

Almost makes me want to have a terminal illness to justify doing it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Here's my car at the 2003 Hershey (one link and one pic).
It's not *that* scary....Giant's Despair is the hairy one!

I would like to go, but I have a race at Pocono the same day.

I went out to the hillclimb today. Was a good time, with some very interesting cars. I saw Brian Krause's (Spelling?) '76 MG RX-Midget, as he calls it (featured in GRM awhile back). I spoke with him for a bit, and he showed me the installation. Apparently the stock tunnel accepts the RX-7 transmission. Everything fit pretty nicely, but he did have to hack up the front frame for the fiberglass fenders. Overall, it was a very nicely implemented modification, and it seemed pretty quick on the course. I was pleased to see a few other spridgets out there, as well as an Elan and a few other noteworthy LBC's. Some of which I recognized from the shop where I get some work done! Have a few pictures, but haven't really picked out the good ones as of yet.

I wanted to go after I heard that Cliff McCandless was taking his Devin C.

Cliff lives about 3 blocks from me & got me involved in the SCCA.

Anyone have any pictures of him running?

Yes, actually, I think I have some pics. I still have to sort through, but I was wondering what the heck that car was, until I looked at the program (and his license plate) and realized the plate was the car type. I'll try to post some tomorrow.

Here is a picture of one, in case anyone is wondering.
Devin.jpg

Cliff's car started life as a Devin D (Deutschland)
It was converted to a Devin C (Corvair)

To my knowledge, they are externally indistinguishable.

May well be the coolest US car made....IMNSHO /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif & wicked FAST!

Aside from taking a whole heck of a lot of pictures and realizing that many of them aren't that good, I picked out a few and shrunk them to manageable sizes for posting here. Point and shooters, even fairly new digital ones, are still only so-so at getting fast action and taking a bunch of sequential pictures.

P.S. I used the image button to show one of the images, but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? I've only ever put on attachments, so I don't know how to do this yet. I also am waiting to upload the othe 5 pics, so I'll edit as I go along.

Note: The "image" ( between the "[image]----[/image]" tags) must end in "jpg", "gif" or other typical image tags
The image that you needed to link was "https://www.britishcarforum.com/ubbthreads/photopost/data/522/Hershey_Vintage_Hillclimb_etc_022_small.JPG"
