I need a little help with my pedal adjustment.

When I went to hook up my linkage I realized I had not adjusted and tightened the lever (8) on the shaft.From what I can gather when the engine is in idle position the lever looks like this

When at WOT it should look lie this

My problem, as soon as I hook up the spring (13) it goes to this

Is there something to stop the peddle from rotating itself up against the dash??
 
If it is like the TR4A (and I believe it more or less is), the car linkage stops it. But if in your application that won't work, you will probably need to rig up a stop.

I could see a stiff linkage rod as in (#14) above holding that,...but... how does the cable linkage hold it stiff. Will that inside sheath hold that against the spring?

If you have converted to a cable linkage, then you'll have to provide some sort of stop. Might want to use a different spring as well.
 
You going to attempt the Ratco installation ?
Then there should be a "bracket" that slips over 8 and bolted down on that "shelf' on the fire wall. That bracket also holds thar end of the cable the cable.

Know that ken, but what holds the inside cable from ....
uh, by any chance is that bracket also a stop????
 
I think I now what you are saying now. You need to have the control rod assemble in place with the throttle stop to keep the control lever from being pulled down. All this is if you have the stock setup not the Ratco design.

The bracket acts as a stop for the lever as well as holding the end of the Ratco cable.

If using a cable, never, ever put the spring on the pedal side of the cable. It will just fold the cable over, resulting in damaged cables and then they jam in the liner.
