My name is Patrick. My pops has a 1964 TR4 that has been sitting untouched in his garage for about ~23 years. He bought it from a junkyard back in 73 for about $80, though it wasn't in bad condition from what I remember; maybe the engine was blown. He and a friend rebuilt the engine and got it running but soon found that the block was cracked. The engine was torn down....but that is as far as he got. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Anyhow, I am in the research stage at this point with the intent of trailering it from his house to mine.

I'll most likely be in lurk mode until then. I am an Army officer that is 'stationed' at college working on a degree and only have a year left, and I'm still working on, though nearly completed, with my Subaru Impreza project; so it may be months before I begin on the Triumph. The body isn't too bad, though I do plan on dipping it. I have no idea about the frame, but I'm pretty confident that it hasn't accumulated too much rust over the years and it isn't bent. The engine is a goner due to rust. He still has all of the hardware, but the block is obviously still cracked and the heads are awfully rusty, probably not worth the cost of dipping.

In the meantime, this looks like a tremendous site and I plan on doing much reading. I was surprised to see the Triumph forum had 43 folks viewing, which is always a good sign.

Thanks for the resource.

Patrick

Welcome to the forum, sounds like a great project. If the body isn't that bad that is great news.

Hello Patrick, from Indiana also no less,

It is great to see that you have a project lined up and planning is rough, I know. Welcome to the forum and I'll chime in as well about posting what will become the Before pictures in your Before/After shots down the road a bit. If you need any parts sources or technical advice I know some great Triumph lovers and experts in Central and Southern Indiana. Just drop me a note when you get to that point if you would like some contacts locally. Hope to see you posting often and glad to have you as a new member!

Best Regards,
Brian /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
