Shop called this a.m.
She's painted, cut and buffed.
Bits and pieces being installed.
I'm very excited.
Being patient is a tough.

Hi David,

Fred & I went to the Scottish Games Car Show today & missed You & Hap being there. What happened to you gents?

Regards, Russ

I'm boycotting local car shows this year, from being a car club president back a few years ago I got looped into being on the planning board for this show and Euro. To be quite honest with you, I never was much into the car show scene anyway, and behind the scenes of a car show is about as much fun as a kick in the ka-hoonies  So I fiquired if I don't come around for the next couple of years, they'll quit asking me to do things for them, I was doing way too much, more for Euro than the Great SCot show, and now I can spend my spare time racing, rather than volunteering for car shows, and when I do come back, it can be like everyone else, on my terms

For the Great Scot car show I was the connection that got the ladies who put on the Scottish Festival to the point that they could have a car show, I introduced them to the SBMOC car club, and those folks gladly took over running the show, so even though I'm not a big car show fan (ok , I'm still big  ), I still helped get a new British car show off the ground and I do take pride in that fact.

Sometimes being too involved is not a good thing.

Test fit the 14x5.5 Retros 4s on Mimi. No tie rod
rub and no rear spring rub.
The weight difference from the 15x5.5 Minators
is amazing. They must weigh 1/2 of the knock off wheels.
Nice to remove a lot of un-sprung weight.
Saving the glamor shots for when Mimi comes home.
Man, those Retro 4s look SHARP on Mimi.
I'm taking a day off from the office tomorrow for the final push to get Mimi home.

Why is Mimi standing on her nose?

Crackberry photo.
:jester:

Here's another crappy Crackberry pic.

You can see the two piece axle end on the rear.
The front dust caps look nice and aren't painted.
I'm still deciding what to do...center cap or not.
Paint is pretty darn shiny sitting in a shop.
Ought to sparkle in the sun.

I'd love to have a set of those Dunlops, but I fear they may not do too well in the rain. AND... I also like to drive my cars in the winter, so about 60% of the time they would be on a shelf in my garage.

That looks really good. You're going to have so much fun.

I can't wait to see a really good shot of those wheels on your Sprite. I've always leaned towards the Minilight-style wheels, but you may be swaying me.

Gundy, 14” VTO’s Retro’s 4’s is definitely the ticket, no grinding on the outer tie rod no spacer, and you don’t have to go with a thinner nut loosing thread strength.. You have plenty of room without any interference, as well many options with tire selection and manufactures, the best of both worlds.

With the 4 link, coilovers and rear disc brakes (DB) 14 X 5.5 David Brown were the best fit for me. They give plenty of room for the brake caliper and the perfect offset with gobs of clearance from the trailing arms for tire flex..

They have an excellent rating in the wet compared with other
performance tires.
No-no for snow and ice....like Mimi is EVER going be out on THOSE roads.
Funny thing is they have a higher tread wear rating than
the Bridgestone Potenzas I am replacing. Go figure.
I know Hap was able to peel a nice bit off the Potenzas at CMP in just a few laps.
:driving:
I'm just happy my wheel/tire combo is under the fenders now and not sticking out past the fenders.

That is one trick rear setup BlueMax.
I can't wait to chase around the mountains
together like the old days. Sprite vs Sprite.
Get-er-Done. Time is a'wasting my friend and
we ain't getting any younger.

I'm a bad influence....ask my Cruiser buddies.
I think the black spokes works well with the light blue.
On the other hand, the Classic 8s look cherry on the wife's
white MGB.
Mimi is a wolf in sheep's clothing now that the stripes are gone.

How right you are Gundy, were not getting any younger. I’m Hopping to have this done by my next birthday. As you very well know having to count on others can wear the patients thin. Hope to have the caliper adapter water jetted next week, prototype if dew in today for a trial fit this weekend. If all goes well with the bracket I’ll start fitting rear sway bar, engineer emergency brake cable, and then ready for body work. I can’t wait to run Sprite vs Sprite in the mountains. Even more CMP, know that will be a hoot, need to have the GoPro tune up for that ACTION!!

I've been told that those Dunlops are being discontinued in that size. They have an $80 rebate, so I think I'm going to go ahead and order a set. I'll buy some all season tires and mount on my old minator rims. I hope they are as good in the rain as the reviews suggest.

Story of my life. Crap goes on sale AFTER I buy it.
:jester:
I've decided to use the VTO center caps. They just look
good with the black VTO lettering.
We should be able to finish up tomorrow.
I installed the Speedwell 7/8 tubular anti-sway bar today.
Real purdy with those heim joints. Can't adjust till we get her on the ground.
Lights are on. A few small things to attend to left.
:driving:

When did you buy them? The form I looked at said between April 30th and July 4th. You may still qualify for the rebate.

Before April 30th.

Happy Birthday to me!
Mimi comes home today for my Birthday!
Stopped by the shop and she's getting a spiff up
all around for her journey home.
Dang she looks nice.
No bumpers for now. I ordered a set of new bumperettes
for the rear, which haven't arrived, to match the
new front blade. (blade is on hand)
LOL...I have to clear a space in the Buggy Barn.
Amazing how much stuff got in there without the BE claiming it's spot.
Pics to follow.

WOOHOO (and happy birthday).

This has got to feel good. Just don't be afraid to drive the old girl now that she's all pretty and shiny.

Don't worry Drew....she's been properly flogged on the way home.
Love the new anti-sway bar. The Dunlops are nasty sticky.
I hit a normal 60mph sweeper (that'd be posted 25mph curve)
and baby is she flat and tight at 70 mph hugging the curve.
:driving:

LOL.....they called because nobody could figure out how to crank Mimi.
I told 'em DON'T...I'll be there shortly.
Fired her up....man, I forgot how loud she is too.
Hit a 6.5k shift to second as I left for the boys
at the shop.
I didn't stick around for Tad to get some pics.
:jester:
He called and I promised I'll bring her back for a photo
shoot when she's all dressed out.
I just wanted her home. Miss B missed her stable mate.
Money shots will come after I install the new bumperettes I'm waiting on and a few dress pieces.
