heeding my better's advice

Yeah Baby! The HS4s are humming a hit tune now.
Adding some 20-50 motor oil in the dash pots
really helped with the sputtering.
I'm about one full round and 2 flats on the
carbs and it runs SUPER. Plugs look great.
The AAA needles are MUCH better on the high end especially
compared to the AAM needles.
Smooth at steady throttle and no skip or sputter to 7K.
WOT is excellent...that's about all I do anyway.
It's off to the paint shop tomorrow.
I'm a happy camper...for a while anyway.
Now if that new front blade and grill boat would just
get docked.
Still waiting on my front tubular anti-sway bar to
get here as well.
The plan is back on track.

reading that last post and looking at the pictures (especially the mountain) make me realize that I am covetous at more levels than you could possibly imagine. so.

(disappears to pray for awhile)

I'm back and forgiven. Congrats! it's awesome. (now I have to go though before the jealousy creeps back in)

David,
What radiator do you have? I really need an aluminum radiator. I've been battling it out with the South Carolina summers. Been thinking about checking with Griffin since they are local.

Hey Gundy,

Do you plan on driving Mimi to Mikes or Trailer? As low as she sits; I`d trailer her there. Give me a call when your goin` over & Maybe I`ll meet you there or simply drive by the house.

Let me know the plan.

It's a pricey unit from UK. Overkill. Looks stock style
but has increased capacity.
I'll post the website if needed.

Edit:
Found their website. Neat stuff.

Change of plans. TK Motorsports is doing the paint.

Mimi looks sad and pitiful without her jewelry.
I couldn't look back as I left her at the paint shop.
It is going to be a long few days of separation.
She sure ran good going to the shop.
I think I already have separation anxiety.
:jester:

I like the looks of that radiator. May have to add that to the list.

Are you going in just for paint or is there bodywork too?

Wow. That is nice. Very similar to the original in appearance. I'm going to get serious about getting one. I just added an electric fan to see if it helps in traffic. I do not have much problem when I'm on the open road.

I checked their website. The later 1275 crossflow is $442 plus shipping and the early one like yours is $598. Not to bad for something that nice.

I'm getting some old short tonneau fastener holes filled and
holes from fender mirrors as well. Body is VERY solid.
Couple of rust bubbles in the usual places but appears to be small surface rust spots.
Same color sans stripes. Just want it to look clean and shiny.
Base coat, clear coat.

Mimi's going to be one happy Sprite!

I really need to do the same thing with the Tunebug -- a few small rust patches and some holes to be filled. One of these days...

The new front blade and grill came in today from
the UK. Nice!
Mimi was installed on the roller dolly today and
we finished the parts removal in prep for the strip down of the paint.
I'm hoping to have her back by late next week.
:driving:
Edit: turns out the paint body guy owns Boykin Spaniels.
He saw the plates and stickers on the Cruiser. Good Karma?
Sprite thinks so.

Good news and bad news.
Good: Mimi's holes are welded up.
The bubbles in the usual places were all surface rust peeking out.
Bad: The drivers side A pillar when sanded is
mighty thin once the surface rust is removed.
No holes but mighty flimsy. Soooo...we're cutting
out the thin section and welding in new.

Turns out the car was originally leaf green, then navy blue,
then light blue, then light blue again.
Geesh.
We are going back to bare metal this time for a better finish.
Looking like a couple of more weeks in the shop.

Unfortunate, but best to solve everything while you're in there. Mimi will appreciate it.

I've got to do something similar with the Tunebug one of these days. Need to start saving my pennies -- and stop buying other cars.

Howdy Gundy,

Personally; I really like the "Leaf Green" color. I have one those as a Screen Saver in my computer.

Since your going to do a "Bare" repaint; Why not go to the Orig. color? That is your intention; Correct? Meaning to make the Ext & Int of the car look Orig.

Have Fun,

Russ

David, I think you ought to go for a camoflouge look, that way no one would see you when you come up on them to pass them

Oh and a question, how the heck did you get doogles on Sprite without her eating them in the process  I think Mack would look good with a set of them and they would protect his buldging eyeballs as well

Geesh Russ....just what part of Mimi, inside or out is like an original?
Gauges? Seats? Engine? Tranny? Springs? Shocks? Wheels/tires?
Mimi ain't original by a long shot.
She's going to be light blue.
I like it that color.

They would still hear her screamin'.
It took a bit of coaxing to get her used to the doggles but
after a while she got used to them.
Mack would look bad to the bone with a set...not pink though.
Here she is in the B wearing the doggles and her harness.
