Ditto to all of the above. I've been running my '65 with no heater core with no issues.

Seat heaters are an interesting option, though.

I think for now I will just leave my blanking plate...I still have to paint the body, put it all the parts in, and make a wiring harness.
 
No heater, blocked off, I drive it with a modded 1275 in 100* days with a rebuilt radiator. Never had an issue.
 
Lot's of answers so it's obvious that keeping the spridget cool is a major topic. I use the heater setup from the factory and don't worry about #4 cylinder and have never had an issue. Having said that when its hot the temp gauge is under constant surveilance! Have had to slow down or to keep the speed up, turn the heater on when it was hot out. In Texas I think I would like the idea of running an auxilliary heater core behind the rad. Either that or different radiator.

I'm gathering the same as Kurt.... These comment prove the obvious....There are many issues that can cause overheating....recent post have suggested fuel mix, timing....throw in a few others and you have a cocktail for some serious heat issues without the outside temp; rad.s; electric fans etc.. even being a factor in the equation... It comes down to good detective work... going down a list of possibilities as the manuals do, eliminating one by one until bingo!.....Hurry up the process and the conclusion is either inconclusive or plain ass off.. time and money ill spent...
 
I haven’t got around to putting the heater in. I leave the valve on and let the coolant circulate. I tape the hole for the few days it gets hot and take the tape off when it cools. This takes the chill off inside. This isn't a good idea if you have a leaker. (Excuse the hardware store valve. That’s all that was available on a Sunday)
