Headrest Fairing

Steve S posted some pictures of a stolen MGA https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/u...6614#Post326614 and it got me thinking about my BE. I'm currently thinking about what I want to do with the car. I have rust issues on the bonnet, but the rest of the car is in fair shape (A post skin replacement and some small dents filled with bondo). I like the look of the headrest fairing on the MGA and like the "idea" of the protection it would give in a rear end collision. I did some research and found one picture of a BE with it installed. If I were to make the car a little street racer it would look cool with the WALKER speedwell bonnet it even looks good with the standard bonnet. https://new.photos.yahoo.com/paulbos@sbcglobal.net/album/576460762404959861. A local guy even has Jag XK fairing form (buck) on ebay:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JAGUAR-XK...sspagenameZWDVW It does not look too hard to make a buck for the BE and I've got some good pictures of how it could be mounted. My body guy has an english wheel and a lot of talent. What do you think of the look and if I go through the time and $ to make one do you think there would be a demand for more?

A few weeks ago (in Cincinnati OH) there was a guy that had one for a bugeye. He was trying to sell it. I did not get his name, but you might contact the Cinci british car club to see if it was one of their members.

seem like the sort of thing you could make with fibreglass on a carved foam mould.

You've read my mind. After making a fiberglass model, it would be easy to make the metal form for AL models

Well I'm back from vacation and now I'm charged up to get back to work on the B/E. While I was gone Tony forwarded me a new valance and on my trip I did stop in at Moss Motors in Goelta to pick up some final small bits. But the thing that has me excited the most is my new headrest fairing.

It will have to be sculpted to match the curve of the back of the B/E but for $24.20 https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/headrest.php beggars can't be choosers. Since I'm doing the fiberglass work on my hardtop now I'll keep on with the fiberglass work and then it's on to the body. More pics will follow as make progress on both.......
