HALLALUJIAH!!! FINALLY....

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Jack, I didn't want you to help him... just give commentary. :wink:

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

From the BusterCluster we know it only takes a couple of days to slap one of these puppies together. A few bonnet-off test drive pictures by Saturday, eh?

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

I'm trying, guys, I'm trying...but the phone keeps ringing & I have to continuously go to the computer to answer emails for parts requests....

Wiring harness & covers are almost finished in the engine compartment.....had to order a new fuse block & regulator....my old original harness was apparently one of the last ones from the 948 run as were my fuse block & regulator & I ordered the 1098 wiring harness...difference? screw-on connectors versus spade connectors

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Drill out the spades and use nuts and bolts or change the ends to spades. What ever works for you.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

I've got new regulator & fuse box on the way...

Next one is: no wiring harness contains the "headlight-to-headlight" & "horn-to-horn" harnesses! So, I've either make do with the old ones or make my own new ones!

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Contact British Wiring and have them make them so that they match.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

I got my harness from British Wiring, Tony, and they had all the bits and sub-harnessess needed (this is for a Bugeye, of course, so YMMV).

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Talked w/British Wiring....their harness is the same as Moss....but, I think I've got it figured out (if somebody could verify for me)....

Headlight/park lights: the main harness runs out to the front center of the car...then the harnesses from each headlight bucket & park/turn light run out to it & connect there in the center of the car behind the grille.

Horn: '63 Midget only had 1 horn on the passenger side...the main harness runs to it....if the car had the optional 2nd horn on the driver side, I'd have to make a harness to go over to it.

So, to finish the wiring of the front, I've gotta go ahead & hook up the lights & horn!

(These are some of the differences between the MGB & Midget that I'm learning!)

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Do you have the harness for the dimmer switch?

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Dunno about a '63, but on my '70 midget the harness passes through the nose cone splash panel on the passenger side.

Yes

Yep...same here...then it runs out to the center of the car behind the radiator (or, in front of it) where the lights hook up to it from both sides.....just gotta figure out how to hold it up against the body.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Z-clips along front flange behind the grill.

Yep, just gotta find some big enough to take the harness.....don't know what I did with the originals.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

I need the unnumbered round 'gizmo' down at the bottom of the air duct (#5) by the hose clamp...anybody got an extra one & a photo of how it goes on the car?

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Some cars had the air control at the front valence, but I thought the '63 had it between the fan and box.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

AHA!! That's what that is....yep, its up by my heater.

So, my hose goeas through the splash panel & attaches to the grille panel with a radiator clamp...thanks!!

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Yup, that's correct (now that I've actually gone out and looked at my car). I need to quit relying on my memory.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Well, I've gotta stop & go cut 3-1/2 acres of grass...supposed to rain tomorrow.

STATUS: Engine compartment wired & plumbed, front shocks & motor mounts installed, front parking lights installed & wired; headlight buckets installed & wired.

PLAN: 1st: MC/pedal assembly installation after I cut the grass;
2nd: wiring & plumbing to rear of car;
3rd: suspension & set it on its wheels;
4th: heater assembly installation.

Hopefully all that by the weekend.

Re: ...IT's HOME!!!

Tony, you will play heck setting the engine with both the mounrs bolted in. Bolt in the drivers side one and bolt the other to the motor mount on the other side. Bolt the drivers side mount to the engine as well.

Now it will preaty well set in when you are ready.
