H1 carbs and throttle return spring? PS BillM this pic is for you!

Finally got the carbs put together and hung them on the 948 with the header. Now I know why Downton made this intake manifold (thanks Bill:encouragement:) it lifts the carbs up and away for the exhaust and allows for less heat transfer to the fuel bowls. As you can maybe see my heat shield was cut off just below the fuel bowls. AN original Throttle spring is too long, Do I extend a bracket down just for a return spring or do I get a shorter spring and attach it to the heat shield? Suggestions?

I'd go for the shorter spring. BTW is there a Downton Abbey Connection?

Boy not a whole lot of room to the bottom of the bonnet it appears.

I hope not as the intake was made by Downton specifically for the B/E. My photo is taken from below, so it does appear higher. Keeping my fingers crossed as I will be using a Speedwell bonnet. Maybe I will have to put a bump in the bonnet!

Paul- that does look good!
No idea about the spring but something will work!
When are you planning to fire that up?
Also- how is the MGA going?

No Abbey connection. Downton is a little town in Wiltshire, near Salisbury. The tuning company was started by Daniel and Bunty Richmond, back in the 50s.
