GT6 GT6 Cable Questions

1st question is the choke cable. Here's what I got:

My choke cable splits off into two from the interior knob. I assumed its supposed to look like this:

But it seems as though every other pic I find has their installed like mine. Long cable connected, short cable dangling. The short cable is actually too short to be attached to the carbs. Its long enough to be attached to the heater control valve though, which looks correct, but then what would the heater knob control? But the installed cable does look a bit too long. This cant be right.

Other question is the speedometer cable. Here's what mine looks like:

Others I have seen do the same, only looped over the engine/transmission, but I worry about it bothering the throttle arm. The cable is also INCREDIBLY long. Which makes me wonder if its actually supposed to loop around the whole engine ducking under the oil pan. As there is too much cable length when installed the other ways.

OK, Correct me if I'm wrong guys (actually no problem asking here  )
The single choke cables are for SU carb setups?

The hole you have the speedometer cable going through is actually for the tachometer cable. The opening for the speedometer cable is up higher close to the brake master.
The two cable pull is for the later CDs carburetors that have a choke "valve" as opposed to the earlier CD carburetors that use a choke "rail".

Gorgeous engine bay. Thanks for the pics. Ok, I'll swap my tach/speedo cables tomorrow and see what that does.

Oh ok. I got this cable with my old engine setup which had newer emission related carbs. Since my donor engine came with original 67 carbs, I used them instead. Will my current choke setup work fine? Do you know where I could get a correct cable? From the pics Ive seen, seems a lot of people are usuing the dual cables, when only one is needed.

I believe I had to get my last cable to from spitbits. At least in my 70 and 73 the choke cable came out over by the battery. I don't know the set up in a mk1 so I can't say. But I needed both cables to be hooked up for the choke to work correctly.

Our car has what I believe to be an original, single cable choke pull. From memory, our single cable attaches to the front carb and the rear is along for the ride when the choke bar is actuated (as mentioned above). Even if our setup is not original, it works without issue on the early Strombergs.

You're welcome for the photos - and thanks for the complement.
Can't tell from your photo, but the early Zenith Stromberg CD carbs on my TR4A have the choke cable coming up from the bottom and it actuates a bell crank that also opens the throttles. With your choke cable pulling from the top I'm not sure how you'll be able to have it open the throttles too.
Take a look at the TR4A set up.

zs 175 cd had the cable comming up from the bottom, but the cd2's had a totally different choke set up. I have cd1's not to sure how the cd2 was routed.
