Rusty old I beams but the worked real well. I painted them with some cheap black spray paint and wire brushed them after the test. Here it is loaded.

Very nice! That's the first I've seen of the trailer (not sure if you posted any other pics).

I'd say for what you got it for, and what it needed, that's a steal!

That's fine for around the local area, but arn't they a bit heavy to haul long distances?

I reckon that they weigh about 30 lbs a piece. Its made of 1/8" steel. I think I am going to bolt them to the trailer for storage. Bolt them on thier sides, just inside the fenders to stop any road stuff from coming through as there is not a gaurd there.

I was thinking of down weighting to a couple of 4 foot long 2X10s with an angle bolted on the end to lock to the trailer. This is just to save the weight of these heavy steel ramps. yep about 30 lbs each.

Nice - those look heavy duty!
Your car looks good up there too!

Those are 89 inches long each. makes for easy loading with that winch on the front. I will pull the extra wieght. I was afraid 2X10 boards might break. Have not towed it yet but the balance seems good. I got to figure the best way to tie it down. It has u bolts front and back outside of each wheel in the front, so I need a ratchet strap around the inside of each front wheel and out to the U bolts then another strap or two around the rearend and then also the tow things in the front still hooked to the winch.

Four straps total. Crossed at front and rear. Will tow snug as a bug.

Hi Kim,

Just looking at the loaded picture... might it be better the other way around? As it is, looks like your tongue weight might be a bit much? The rear of the car overhangs more than the front, and the COG is what, probably around the A-pillar? I'm thinking you could probably balance it pretty nicely if you backed it on? (At which point it might tow better with the top up?)

Hmm, maybe that's dumb... it's late here. Time for bed.

You are supposed to have more weight on the tongue end of the trailer. Doesn't seem to push the back end of the truck down as much as the camper does, so I think it will be ok. Will test it out down the highway real soon.

Crossed straps.

Here goes, left front on the car to right front on the trailer. Right front on the car to left front on the trailer. Now not only are they crossed but should be out front of the car a foot or so.

In the front I have found a wrap around the outer A frame works well and in the rear around a spring hanger seems handy. Your later year car may be a bit different.

Same thing with the rear.

Your winch cable will also keep the car locked down from moveing toward the rear.

Out of gear please with emer brake on as well.
