Got my head back - again!

I finally got the engine head back. It has been at the machine shop for months. I also wound up ordering 3 sets of valves (2 from the UK, 1 from Tel Aviv) before I got the correct types. Set 1 for a Herald - totally wrong, different diameter, different head Set 2, correct head, a intake is the correct diameter, exhaust to small. Finally we found the correct exhaust valve in Tel Aviv in some warehouse left over from the 70's.
It seems that my engine head is an odd 1500 FWD head with Spit sized intake valves and maybe TR6? exhaust valves. Seems like the only head that Triumph made with that combination. Now I just need to find some time to put it all back together and into the car.

So thats what they mean when they go on about "Hybrid" technology!
 
The head on my TR is gas-flowed with larger valves. I think they are BMW!!

I sat down and very closely inspected it tonight and found one solvable problem. There is a big 1/16" variation in height between valves. Clearly the machine shop didn't try getting all the valves at the same height. That doesn't bother me but several of the valves just don't have enough tension on the valve springs and that is going to cause problems. According to the book, the 1200 herald engine should have a fitted length of 1.36" currently the several of my springs are only compressed to 1.5" and clearly don't have the required 27 to 30 lbs of force.

Any ideas who sells valve spring shims??
 
Machine shops around here a kind of primitive (and I am being very nice with that description!) I guess that their level of technology is stuck right about when the Herald was new. Of course the owner recognized the triumph engine bits from about 10 feet since he worked on them when they were common and new.
In any case I fished around on the Web last night and found that APT has the spacers I need.
