TR2/3/3A Got my first drive in a TR3 today

[ QUOTE ]
The daguerreotype was a bit before my time. I know it looks that way. But see a more modern photo of me in 1962, doing what most TR owners do before setting off on a trip, voyage, jouney, expedition, . . . .

Checking the vitals before heading back to the dorm after the GLee club meeting, huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Call Triple-A and renew, and make sure you have a credit card, right?

Since 1990 when I finished my 3-year restoration project, I've driven 87,000 miles. And I'm not a member of AAA and I don't own a cell phone. My trip to VTR in Portland Oregon in 2000 was 7225 miles in 3 weeks and the drive to VTR in Colorado in 2001 was a total of 5225 miles. These cars can be very reliable if you take care of them.

[/ QUOTE ]Careful, Don! If people like you and me keep telling people this, they might start to believe it and we'll actually see more Triumphs on the road again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm more a poser than Don, though; my biggest trip in the Herald was only 2550 miles over about eight days, said trip occuring only two weeks after I'd bought the car based on a supermarket parking lot test drive. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

2550 miles in 8 days in a Herald sounds about right if you drive 9 hours every day! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was almost at the "ooh I wonder if I can touch the road" stage

Way back when, my dad used to light his matches while driving the TR3 by striking them on the ground! Maybe not real smart (especially since every type of flamable liquid seems to leak out of these babies), but way cool!

I've had the pleasure of owning a TR3A and a TR6 at the same time... ok my dad had them both, I just lived there.

The TR3 felt a little faster, and probably was seeing as how the six weighed more...but the TR6 is a little more liveable and more of a day in, day out kind of car.

But you will never, ever get as many looks and stares in a TR6 as you will in a TR3.
