Gonna try and get my Six [ Amos] running again

I had a problem with a cap and rotor on my TR6 too, get the red ones from Jeff at Advanced, no more problems, always starts, runs great, and has not died on me since, knock on my wooden head right now

Dale good luck, I dont see why you would need to replace the electrics in the ignition, if it ran before you put it up my bet is its the gas,

I usually go out and start my 6 up every week and just let it run if I dont drive it around the block sit in it drink a beer and listen to the radio,

Me too, I argued the defective rotors concept and the BCF TR6 Experts called me a no nothing idiot. I argued and finally got thrown off BCF. Moss sent me six new rotors and I have had no problems in 5000+ miles of driving. BCF has become an elitist site and I no longer post here other than to say howdy.

Dale, I am sad you feel that way. While there may be a few, and I mean a very few people who are more then rough around the edges, the vast majority are not "elitist".

The very supportive tone of this thread should show you how wrong you are.

That is not true, you were not thrown off this site. With your bizarre behavior at the time you absented yourself. After consistent and gentle warnings, you gave the moderators little choice. You were treated with a great deal of kindness and understanding. If you think that is elitist than I am indeed sorry for you.

So Dale did you change all your gas out? I think a lot of problems are from the alcohol they put in our gas now. I put 4 oz of stabil per tank in the TR6 and in every thing I own that might sit for a while, lawnmower, tiller, boat, generator, weed eater, blower,

Hondo- I have asked this entire thread be taken down.

But 2 years ago when the arguments about my ability to install a rotor were taking place, I sent the entire Jeff rebuilt dizzy, Moss rotor and Moss Cap back to Jeff at Advanced for review. Moss rotor and Moss cap defective. Jeff kindly gave the dizzy a tune up, installed one of his red rotors and sent along a spare and new cap- would not take any money. Heck of man Jeff is. Quality work, honest man. 5000+ miles driven on that red rotor, so far.

Yes, I put the tr6 away with 1/4 tank of gasoline and stabilizer. Now I have added another 1/2 tank of good gas and sea foam. Car starts just fine but will only idle on full choke. Probably timing and carbs need a little work.

Thanks for your interest.

Dale

I hope you sort out the idle issue. Yes, Jeff does quality work. How'd this thread get so ugly?

Unless you drained the tank of the old gas, adding new gas and sea foam won't help. Had the same issue with the XKE and 3000 until I cleaned out the ALL gas. On the 3000, I had to clean the needles as well, they were green, and I just rebuilt them a year and a half ago.

:iagree:

I think the needles are stuck in the carbs. That would give you the need to have full choke.

The gas that is available now is really nasty stuff.

Brent-Howdy!

The thread got ugly and that is why I requested it be taken down.
This tread is worthless now; is not educational and serves no
purpose whatsoever. I certainly am not going to be baited
into responding to Marks attempt to rile me up.

I hope Mickey pulls the plug as I asked him.
I should not have posted to begin with.
I knew better. My bad. Sorry for the mess it made.

Highest regrds to all my BCF friends.
I will no longer read nor post on this thread.
It is ugly and ruined.

B.S. Mark made no attempt to rile you up. It seems to me now that you brought up a much discussed topic and waited for your chance to slip in the elitist comment. Remember you started it. Then right back to your old stunt of asking the thread to be closed down. Tiresome downright tiresome.

Dale-

I'd be very happy if you stayed and contributed on the forum - I have enjoyed your posts. But Mark did not bait you.

Take care,
Randy

Howdy Folks,

I`m just driving thru and started reading this ridiculous thd.

Dale; Months ago, You had shown some pics of other "Triumph & or TR6" owners on that Island you live on. What do they do when they have some Mechanical issues with their cars? There must be someone on that Island that can help you with your car!!

Man, If I knew how to speak "Spanish"; I`d be able to make a small fortune in "PR". Maybe I`ll move? (NOT)!

Maybe it is time for a "Miata"?

Enough out of me.

See Ya,

Russ

Hey Dale. Hopefully you wont leave, best just to ignore stuff and words. anyway just pull the tops off the carbs and lift the pistons out and needles and see if there is gunk on them, you could spray carb cleaner down in there, but dont get it on those rubber belows, I destroyed some, they will swell up and be usless, reassemble and see what happens
