No, I don't watch Hollywood awards shows. :joyous: However, I noticed that the day after the Golden Globes, there is front-page news (at CNN) about the FASHIONS at the show. I suppose there's nothing new in that regard (as the Oscars typically hype the entire "red-carpet" thing). It does occur to me that the entire idea of the fashion worn by glamour-seeking types becomes the central focus for some people. Maybe just women.

Do other awards shows engage in this? How often have you been to a big car show when someone came away commenting "gee, did you see the cover-alls on the owner of the winning car? Gorgeous!" :glee: True, some of use have garage envy when it comes to a place where you can eat off the floor... but, still, the owner of the car attire hardly seem noticed.

Maybe a more valid comparison would be something like "my tools are cooler than your tools." Commence speculating.

True about the coveralls, but i am pretty sure those scantily clad women draped over the cars at said shows are not there for their knowledge of ABS braking systems.

Good point, JP. I forgot about the shows (or magazine covers) sporting the model in the bikini. :fat:

I must say though, that I do love seeing people who get dressed up for car shows, particularly something relevant to their car, I definitely notice that, especially as a visual type person (ie. photographer), just a couple of examples from my photos...

One more, admittedly this one is from an automotive museum where volunteers dress up with the cars for the big annual show, one reason why I like going to their show actually, along with seeing unusual cars as well...

Nice pics. I intend to dress up a bit at Goodwood next September (as it is expected).

So, if I dressed up for a show with my Wedge,...
Would I dress as a Mod or a Rocker??

A Mocker, Don. :jester:

I still recall years ago walking into a book store with my then 3 year old daughter on my shoulders, walking up to the car magazines and my daughter saying in a loud voice - oh look, Barbies! Out of the mouths of children....
