How do you do ? My name is Rob, and I own a 1965 Austin Healey 3000. As spring has arrived and after a long winter working diligently under the hood (bonnet) of my BJ8, to my chagrin, it appears that the brake pedal requires multiple pushing to develop pressure to engage the shoes and pads. The reservoir, at the time I first noticed was low. As I am a novice with respect to brakes and the brake / servo assist system, does anyone know the best method to bleed the lines, or better said " Austin Healey 3000 Brakes for Dummy's" (being myself of coarse).

Welcome Rob

Are you member of Southern Ontario Healey Club?

I have had my Healey out last weekend for a club event.

Lots of help on the Healey forum where in Ontario are you?

I live in south Etobicoke

Cheers

Mark

Hi There Rob,

"Welcome" to the wonderful world of "LBCs" from the Pocono Mtns. of PA.

What I used to do to bleed the brakes was simply this:

Run a hose from the bleeder screw into a clear bottle filled approx. 1/4 of the way with brake fluid. Release the bleeder screw and watch the air bubbles till they stop. Then re-tighen the bleeder screw and should be "Good to Go".

Have fun; Wish I had a Healey 3000 to play with but no $$$.

Regards, Russ

Thanks Russ for the tip !! Followed your recommendation and "Bob's your Uncle" the brake system hold pressure. I guess the next step is to determine where the leak may be.

Again Thank you

Rob

Hey Mark,
I live in London Ontario, wife, daughter and my BJ8. No I'm not a member of the AHCSO, Are there any events happening in the area this summer? Not that confident to travel to destinations where I can not use CAA.

Rob;

Welcome to the best LBC place on the planet.
As you live in London, that means we are neighbors. I call Tillsonburg home, and my wife works in downtown London.

If you require help with that car, just PM me as I'm a technician by trade.

Dave

Gosh!!! Welcome, Rob!!

I spent a significant part of my youth watching London TV broadcasts... and put into Long Point from Ashtabula as a "teener" in an 18' Ray Green "Rebel".

Welcome to the forum!

Lake Erie ROCKS, btw.
