My son posted this on Facebook tonight. Since this is a special day for my wife and I, I thought I'd post it here. Just goes to show the magic of these cars.
Even at 14, my dad knew his cars. He'd never seen one like this though. It was red, sleek, low to the ground, and had an emblem on the front that read 'Austin Healey'. It rolled up to the lone gas station in Le Grand, CA where my dad was loitering with his buddies. As this gorgeous woman got out of the car my dad said, "I'm going to get one of those". His friend asked "The car or the girl?" and my dad responded "If I got the car, I think I could get the girl".
4 years later my father bought this 1960 Austin Healey 3000, a few years after that he met my mother in the dorms at UCSB, and today they celebrate 50 years of marriage. Today is a day worth toasting to so cheers to you Mom and Dad. On to 100! #getthecar #getthegirl.
The photo below is my son David and his bride Melissa on their wedding say. They just celebrated their first anniversary in May
