When I was a kid (12) we lived in North Hollywood, CA, briefly. I worked on weekends picking Dandelions out of the next-door day-care center lawn and watering her trees. I got $10 a week. I gave my mother $8 to supplement our food bill and kept $2 for me. I would walk all the way to Magnolia Blvd. to a hobby shop and buy a new AMT model every week and build it. I would side track (wore my sneakers out) to George Barris' shop along the way (actually, out of the way) and he would let me galk at his latest creations. Those were the days. We were on a first name basis. He was Mr. Barris and I was the little s..t.
