Novice needs to know if you all use RTV Silicone for gasket sealer and if so any particular brand that you have found to be better.
If not, what is your sealer of choice? - I'm reassembling a 1098 and need to know what to use for gasket sealer.

Jim,
I use Permatex Ultra Gray or Ultra Black almost exclusively on most things mechanical. I have used Hylomar on rear seals, but that’s about it.

Permatex Aviation gasket sealer or Indian head most places or "Three Bond" when you want stuff to stay stuck such as valve cover gasket to valve cover. Grease on the head side. Never touch the silicone stuff since I had to have a radiator disassembled and rodded out because the PO had used plenty of it. Radiator core was mostly plugged with it.
