Last year I finally got around to changing the freeze plugs. It took forever to find brass ones, but you guys here got me going. Since having the Healey running is not a priority at the moment, I didnt get around to bolting everything back together until last month. The gas pedal linkage doesnt seem to have the right amount of travel and I am not sure if I connected it back right or not. I dont know if you can see much from the pic. It seems like I need more length on the tie rod from pedal to the bellcrank. Unless I managed to get something totally backwards. What is odd I didnt remove the tierods from body, just disconnected them at one end, so I am at a loss to figuring out whats up. It was fresh in my head last year, but I have slept since then. The arm from gas pedal is already too far past center to have any travel to open carbs. I did replace the rubber bushing on firewall, but that would not change the length enough for what it needs.

The Bentley manual has a scale drawing of the linkage on page 55 with dimensions on the following page. Section A.37.

In your picture, the control arm shown should be just off vertical not quite in the 1 o'clock position.

Whats the height of the pedal in the car it should be equal to the brake

Theoretically, the gas pedal should be the height of the brake pedal when the brakes are applied to facilitate heel-and-toe downshifts. My BJ8 is close to that, but you really have to contort your right foot to heel-and-toe, in 'normal' driving it's not worth the trouble.

IIRC, the shop manual has an extensive write-up, complete with excellent drawings and measurements, for adjusting the gas pedal (it's buried under tools and spare parts in my boot, and I'm too lazy to extract it).

Thank you BigGreen. That is exactly what I needed. Thanks to everyone for their input. Greatly appreciated! Patrick, I have been trying for nearly 10 years to attempt one of the work days. Maybe it will happen in my lifetime. Something always seems to come up. A few times I actually tried until the sky opened up and changed my mind.
