gas filler and cap options

after looking at various options i have decided to weldup the gas filler opening that had been cut out years ago to accomodate a huge flip type monza, aston or whatever cap. i would appreciate pics of various filler options on a stock opening. my car is a two seater and the area is relatively flat. a forum member offered to sell me a four seater piece but it is just not shaped to accomodate the two seater area. any and all pictures or suggestions are appreciated. my car is a v8 conversion so non stock....but an aircraft size filler is just not proportioned properly for the healey. thanks in advance. pictured is the very poorly cut opening!!!

How about just using a smaller Monza filler on the stock neck of the fuel tank? Real easy and it's period correct. I have one on my Bugeye as shown on the picture, but the angle of the photo makes it look bigger than it really is.

is there any special type/grade? of aluminum io need to weld in place. i most likely will not form the raised opening. so a filler cap that would sit or mount over the opening would be my preference! it is almost to bad that a person could not just use a flip open gas door in the area and eliminate the gas cap altogether. i think it would enhance the rear appearance of the two seater.

One tip, you may have thought of already, is to weld up all the small holes first while you have access through the large hole. You can clamp a piece of steel from the bottom side to act as a backer and heat sink to prevent making the small holes bigger as you weld them up. I think not making the raised lip will not be as bad as having that large filler on there.

Here's another view of the TR4 cap. I have used a piece of bicycle inner tube as a sleeve, and the cap is a snug fit in the diameter of the original Healey filler pipe.
